Monday Makes – A Card and a chat

Hey folks.  I haven’t been very consistent blogging this last month.  I find myself in a little state of limbo.  I recently watched a video talking about emotions and I have to say that I really relate with Simon Sinek and am sharing all of the things he mentions on this video.  If you are interested at all about how to answer this question “How are you feeling, really?”   Sometimes it’s hard to put our emotions into words. Enter Andrea Garfield, executive coach and expert on feeling the feelings.  I think this topic is really timely as I am struggling to feel like “myself” these days.  We are all in some form of battle to make sense of what has happened to the world.

However, I have found some motivation and I have produced this video…I hope you like the simple masking project for today.  I think getting back to the basics is most likely a good way to get stamping.  Things that will be very involved most likely won’t have me eager to be at the craft desk but something on the simpler side will.

Monday Makes – A simple card design for Joshua Alexander

Hello friends.

Today’s card design is a bespoke project for a Canadian Artist Joshua Alexander.  Last year I made a small set of cards (they were white cardstock with white lettering spelling the name Ushitat…a name he uses to describe his art as it means “maker” in Cree) and sent them off to Josh as a gift.  You all know that I don’t really do bespoke projects for pay but rather gifts instead.  Keeps me happy to gift rather than for pay.  So…the story goes that Josh who is a finger painter, a reclaimed metal sculptor and an aspiring filmmaker got in touch with me to do a few more cards for him using his full name.  I felt that a slim line card would be perfect for this job and was happy to comply with his request.  We did discuss payment to where I did request some of his art (a metal rose) for payment instead.  Perhaps if I keep doing work for him I will get a full bouquet!

The purpose of me telling you this whole story is to share with you how easy the products I am using could be used for your unique purpose.  Do you have a business that would benefit from your name on a card?  Does someone  you know have a unique birthday coming up?  How about a card similar to just say Happy Birthday, Thank You or Merry Christmas very simply.  The application can be the same, once you have your template made you could make as many as you need.

Here is the cards I made today.  I hope Josh likes them.

Monday Makes – Die cut dry embossing! An easy technique!

No joke friends.  I am happy to share this fun, easy technique with you today.  I had a lot of left over die cuts from the paper piecing video last week so I thought I would use them today to do a fun technique.  Check it out.

There are some better pictures in the video, but I wanted to share an up close one here so you can see that indeed the die did emboss quite well but subtle.

Monday Makes – A Blossoms in Bloom Card

Hi friends.

It has been a while.  Thanks for giving me some space so I could re-group.  You may not know this but I own my own salon and after being closed for 2 months there was a great many things to do, a lot of new procedures and policies to develop, a lot of hard work and also the worries of maybe not being able to weather the covid storm.  I have been under a tremendous amount of stress dealing with it all and I do very much appreciate that I can step back from the blog and YouTube channel for a bit to focus on what needs to be done without pressure from my lovely and amazing customers.  Stampin’ Up! is not my full time gig like it is with some other big names in Canada.  I am a very small fish doing my best in this competitive direct sales crafting business. When something big like the Covid-19 pandemic (or even when I was renovating my salon) happens sometimes I have to take a step back to focus on the big picture.  I know that it is disappointing to some.  I get emails/messages daily asking where, what and why.  I want you to know that my stamping family, customers, team members, subscribers and followers mean a great deal to me.  Right now it’s not my full time job and I needed to step away from the constant onslaught of creating and producing in order to concentrate on my real career for a time.

I will admit that it really was lovely when I was isolating because I had all the time to spend creating and producing and that gave me purpose.  However, all the isolating was a bit hard on my mental health as well.  I don’t talk about this much but I assume that you can understand that some folks are more affected by it than others.  This is true for me.  As much as it was nice to interact with all my internet friends it is not the same as chatting one on one.   I live alone with 2 cats in a very tiny apartment.  Somedays it was really hard.  I don’t very often spill personal stuff on my blog but since I did get some backlash for not being online for a bit I felt I needed to explain.  I do ask for kindness and understanding because it may happen again in the future…who knows?  I know my limits and feel fortunate that this Stampin’ Up! side hustle is adjustable to suit my needs.

In conclusion, I want to say this, no matter what I am going through, I am in a constant state of gratitude and so very thankful for Stampin’ Up! the company,  for my really amazing talented team and my fantastic customers.  Every single time when I am struggling a bit with something, amazing things happen to help me out.  I am so very grateful for all the opportunities that I have been given and please know that I am more committed to this “jobby” each and every day.  I could go on and on here.  I really could…. but I won’t because I know exactly why you came here today…and me gibberjabbing about my life is not it.  However, if you did want to discuss things with me and hear my story you may be interested in the joining offer that Stampin’ Up! has going on till the end of the month.  Check it out below.

Now, for the reason why you are here!  Today’s inspiration.  I am so pleased to share with you a design from the Blossoms in Blooms Bundle.  I spent some time on the weekend and created a new online class featuring this bundle and am really impressed with how many techniques I could do with it.  I created 3 designs for the Online Card Class, today’s content and 2 more designs for the blog and 1 more for the amazing crew at the VIP SuNN Social Facebook Group.  It’s going to be a Blossoms in Bloom week!  I have 2 more ideas up my sleeve so you can trust me when I say that this is a very versatile bundle that can create some fun and beautiful designs.

If you are interested in learning about the Online Card Class please click the button below to see the new registration procedure and more information about the class.  You may also notice that I have streamlined the blog a little bit to help with ease of use and tidy some dusty corners.

Monday Makes – A Many Mates Two-fer

Oh my goodness that title was a tongue twister.  Lol.  Happy Monday to you.  I am happy to report as you read this I will be back in my salon in full mask and shield.  I will try to post some fun photos on Facebook and Twitter if you are interested.  So, heads up, if you are emailing me or messaging me I most likely will not be as quick to answer as I have been in the past.

For today’s post I wanted to share a project with the product that I was able to pre-purchase this month.  It’s a really cool bundle, and buying the items together gives you a 10% discount but they don’t have to be used together.  Meaning that the products stand alone by themselves but I thought it was nice that Stampin’ Up! bundled them together as I get a discount and so do you!

Here are the card designs I made today, yes it is two cards using one die cut.  I am happy to keep sharing how one could stretch their supplies.  This is a great example of that.   I forgot to mention in the video that I was using a new in colour card stock as well as the ink.  I really like Misty Moonlight.   One more thing, just as a reminder the new catalogue doesn’t launch until June 3 so I have not included links to any of the products today.  In the video I share with you where you can find them in your catalouge and I hope that is enough information to get you pointed in the right direction.

Thanks for watching.  I want to remind you to please check out the Ornate Garden Blog Page as it has some pre-release products for customers.

Monday Makes – A whole lot of cards

Hello and welcome to the AD free version of my blog!  I hope you find this more pleasing than the past.  I have been holding off on upgrading my platform here because, well…let’s face it I was being cheap.  However, if I want folks to keep checking in on my blog and come here for inspiration then they should not be bombarded with ads.  I don’t regret the past, as before I was not really in the position in my business to have a lot of extra but since my YouTube channel gives me a tiny stipend each month I figured that I would splurge for the extras here on the blog.  Anyway, here is the card designs for today.   I hope you like them and try them out on your own.  The sentiments were from the Sending Sunshine PDF Covid-19 Give Back Program and you can find out about the HERE>  SENDING SUNSHINE PDF
